The Challenge

A responsible business will foster inclusion through not just what it says, but what it does. The ethical values of fairness, respect, dignity and equity are easy to say but are challenging to activate. Organisations that are dedicated to doing the right thing recognise this as a market differentiator and embrace inclusive leadership as a critical business imperative.

The Project

A UK headquartered leading leisure and holiday parks company wanted to bring to life their inclusion and diversity strategic commitments by activating their core values and energising their workforce to be part of an inclusive movement. Key initiatives included a new Inclusion and Diversity Board and a programme of people-centric workstreams.

We were asked to design and deliver a key workstream focusing on the development of inclusive skills and behaviours for their brand-led leadership teams, including the Group Executive Team, and all senior managers. We focused on developing inclusive leadership skills through the design of high impact, immersive and experiential training modules that fostered a workplace environment based on trust, respect and dignity.

The Outcomes

  • Two highly interactive and experiential in-person training modules on unconscious bias and psychological safety that were critically aligned to the corporate purpose, vision and the valued behaviours.
  • Reinforced ownership and accountability across the business and brands by using a train-the-trainer cascade approach.
  • Innovative tools and techniques used in the design of the training including production of videos, interactive toolkits to reinforce post-training continued learning, and use of technology to self-assess behaviours and reveal existing cultural norms in teams hitherto unseen.
  • Improved employee engagement scores and retention of high performing talent.
