A House of Lords report has been published today and concludes that the UK can be a world leader in artificial intelligence (AI) by putting ethics at the heart of the sector’s development.

The report says that AI would reach its full potential only if it mitigates the risk associated with use of AI, such as algorithmic bias and the unexplainability of “black box” systems. The select committee have proposed 5 principles to underpin a cross-sector code that be adopted both nationally and globally and place intelligibility, fairness and humanity at their heart.
